Roast this concept fellow founders!

Hey y'all,

I've had this idea for a while now to create a product which makes it easier for startup founders to prioritise what they should work on.

Initial customer research revealed that a lot of startups struggled to find effective advisors/mentors, so I launched this product;
https://www.biznest.io/

So far it seems as though this has legs but I'm pivoting towards startups that are Seed / Series A stage as they tend to have a more clearly defined set of objectives, and importantly, money!

I haven't lost my desire to create something to ease the chaotic early-stages of startup life so I've been thinking of creating a tool which helps startups to focus on the key things required to raise investment.

What are thoughts about this? Is this a problem that you can relate to, or do you think there are other issues that should focused on instead?

Appreciate your insights...

    I like the find advisor's idea, but that is probably because i am an advisor :)

    Out of curiosity how many people have said they can't find advisors?

      Quite a lot but also a lot might not be willing to pay for it. Particularly early-stage startups - what is your experience of advising startups?

        A little about me: I have several years of startup experience, have gone through a couple of accelerator programs, and have spent thousands of hours researching startups.

        I started out advising by answering technical questions related to wearables and Bluetooth which i have a reasonable amount of experience in. Then while i was freelancing for 6months (mostly with startups) i found that they needed more than just technical advice, so i started to use my startup knowledge to give them general business advice. I then started to give startup advice to a few companies that contacted me through linkedin and found it very rewarding and have been doing it in my spare time ever since. This is part of the reason i joined indiehackers.

        I am also in the process of creating smart tools to help startups validate their ideas. I can send you the link if you are interested.

          Hi Cannonball;

          Thanks for the background. So to clarify, you advise early-stage startups for free? Are there any issues with the existing approach that you have?

          Sure I'd love to see the validation tool you're working on!

          Cheers,
          M

            I have been doing it for free, but i only have a limited amount of time, which is why i created https://www.bigideas.guru. The tools will not only help others save time, but also helps me to help more people. I would like to advise full time, so eventually i will have to charge for something, but will always try and answer questions on indiehackers, as i feel i can make a difference here.
