Rogue Headlines - Feedback Please :)
Hi Indie Hackers community!
We're posting here for the first time to see if Rogue Headlines, for now only a landing page + prototype (which includes a ton of dummy news just to show what it would look like, so please don't rely on it), has any potential at all.
We're looking for both: 1) feedback (would you use it? why not? what is it missing? is it just redundant? what does it compete with?), and 2) potential users (if you are interested, on the landing page there is a link to a Google survey: all it asks for is your email, and we won't spam you. We'll only email you when and if the project goes online).
The idea is pretty simple. Many a finance professional, but also us headline-addicted politicos and market aficionados, often have to refresh and check multiple news outlets in parallel to catch our headlines. Sometimes markets move, and it's unclear for some time what's causing it. Bloomberg is great but overly focused on its own content. The FT is awesome but a bit slow, unless it is itself the first mover on a topic. Google News is great, but it misses that 'headline' je ne sais quoi... So imagine instead a website where all these headlines and new articles, when published, appear immediately upon coming online. We'd aim to aggregate headlines from all the big news outlets initially, and give users the ability to add whatever sources they are most interested in. You want to have the live stream of posts coming from WallStreetBets? No problem. You're an Italian speaker? OK, add in Milano Finanza and Il Sole 24 Ore, or La7 if you like Lilly Gruber.
Note that we don't aim to compete with any of the news providers. This platform wouldn't publish news articles, only headlines. Slightly controversial, but the focus won't be on selection/quality; the focus will be on speed. The near-adrenaline-inducing ding-ding-ding-ding-ding of news hitting the Rogue Headlines terminal is what we aim at. We hope in the mid-term to gain support from various news outlets to provide us access to exclusive headlines and help link back to their websites, providing a flow of readers, users, and potentially subscribers.
This is how we've thought about it, at least. Check out the prototype (it's a simple, lovable built structure) to visualize how we're minded to build this, if we do. We'd love any feedback at all and would be happy to take it offline if you have strong views!
