Scratching your own itch feels GREAT
The title says it all.
The satisfaction you get from building a solution to a problem that you are facing is amazing!
Sometimes it's just a little script that I write in a single morning (anyone in need of a simple Youtube to mp3 converter that doesn't come with ads, weird file names and viruses?)
Sometimes these scripts grow into web apps that actually have paying customers! Isn't that the goal? (Anyone in need of an notetaking app that organises your fleeting thoughts, without having to learn markdown, use "pages" or create folders? Protolyst has you covered)
If you haven't tried building a solution to a problem that you face yet, give it a try. I thoroughly recommend.

I know that feeling — Tweetboard started exactly like that.
It does feel good to build something for yourself first, but sometimes I fear that I'm just running away from two big questions:
As long as I'm focused on building the product, it gets easier and easier to not focus on getting those answers... But I guess sooner or later we all have to face them
That's a good point Mario. Scratching your own itch doesn't necessarily mean your solution is a viable business opportunity, but it's a good starting point.
Indeed, we all have to face those questions. But ultimately, the end goal is happiness - not money - and if building it made you (any maybe one or two other happier) - you're a winner in my eyes 🤩
