ScrollBites launched softly and quietly in beta to a small group of target users, I'm hoping to launch it to the public in January.
Instagram and other socials are used primarily for those who want to become popular or known. You can observe that when you analyze the user journey designed by TikTok or Instagram for instance. The dopamine measure are views, likes, bookmarks, and so on. While there are people who use to stay "in touch" with their friends, it's rarely the case anymore. And those who use it to share dishes, often quit after noticing how hard it is to get followers or likes.
ScrollBites aims to become the place where people find a suitable dish for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and rewards contributors in ways that measure their helpfulness towards community members. In other words, achievements that users take pride in for themselves, not to become popular (IG is for that). Being hyper-focused on food served by restaurants means that there is less distraction and a more pleasant user journey without regrets (as in "dang it I spent 30 minutes on IG w/o realizing it" moments).
