Shoddy designs and how to fix them

Hello everyone!

As we all know, UX is among the most important parts of any website, application, or frankly anything that we can interact with. And we all know that feeling of slight discomfort and annoyance that you feel when something is poorly designed.

Most of the time, the thing causing the friction is difficult to pinpoint. It just feels wrong.

I've started collecting examples of these annoying/uncomfortable designs at https://shoddy.design. It's partially an outlet for me to improve my taste and design sense, and hopefully a fun resource for others!

I love this. the list is hilarious.
At first I agreed with the one about the Youtube upload button, since I have never touched it and also I imagine many youtubers never did either because they usually edit and upload on desktop.
However, if there's a significant number of Youtubers that use it then I think it's justified design decision to put it at the center : Content makers are usually a minority compared to the consumers but they are very important and I would not want to alienate them. Content creation should be frictionless just as discovery and viewing.
Also, the design decision make sense if you consider the new "Youtube Shorts" feature that might attract new content makers, and which rely on the button being front and center.

      Thanks @aekiro!

There's certainly a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to design, so I totally get the upload button if you're a content creator.
