I’m going to launch a marketplace where e-comm brands can find top photo & video content creators for their next photoshoots. I’m going to start from a simple directory with talent profiles that have social links, a bio, and a few portfolio images. I manually found over 200 talents (preferably on IG) who have great portfolios.
Should I email each of them to ask permission to add their info to my directory? Or just add all of them without permission and start sharing a link with brands who try to find e-comm content creators?
I'm asking this question from a moral perspective to avoid shady practices, not from a legal one.
Appreciate your answers.
Beyond moral reasons, get in touch.
Not everyone okay with their content used without their consent. It's potentially illegal and may get you in trouble. Even that's not the case you may end up with bad user experience as a first step.
So instead get in touch and let them know what you are up to, this may bring more opportunities. They may invite their network, they may work in different models that you can learn and improve your solution/marketplace etc.
