Hello All,
I am working on a content discovery tool and was looking for feedback.
Problem: If I find an interesting article online and I want to dig deeper into that that topic then I need to play a lot of keyword jujitsu with Google. The "related: sitename.com" operator on the Google advanced search option for some reason just returns results where the url is mentioned on the web and does not consider the content of the url as part of search query.
Solution: Find similar articles based on the content.
URL: https://urloom.com
Your feedback is really appreciated.
Mmm... I don't know if that's a problem. And your mixing two things, dig deeper vs find similar. And what do you call "similar".
The website doesn't explain anything without this post. The UI needs work. It takes a long time to return. And it just returns meaningless links, should at least get page titles. I don't really get what you want the results to be, I've pasted one link and I don't find the results valuable but again idk what to expect.
There was a time content discovery was a hot topic with many startups, I don't think any survived, the closest is maybe Pinterest or medium (not exactly the same thing, but maybe the same potential users).
Thanks @codycwiseman for taking a look at the site and providing feedback.

I will update a FAQ and about page to explain a bit more. But again, great point.

touche, I am going to continue to make it better.
It takes a long time to return.
This is going to be a bit work-in-progress. Right now, I just have 10M web pages crawled & indexed. If you put a url which is not indexed then it fetches, parses & indexes the content. Once it's done then for the same url it's going to be a lot faster. As a stop-gap I am working on implementing a progress bar with more information about what's happening on the server.
And it just returns meaningless links, should at least get page titles.
This is going to be get better as I continue to crawl metadata from the webpages.

The results should be relevant to the topic of the original url you searched with. The higher the quality of the original url the better the results are. But again this is from my limited use-cases.

The intent of this tool is to cater to content marketers. I am hoping to target "Curated Newsletters" at this time where they need to perform 4-6 hours/ week of research work to create a weekly newsletter.
It's essentially the content recommendation engine based on the content you feed.
Thanks again for taking the time and providing valuable feedback. Means a lot to me.
