The first paying customer for EZQR signed up while I was sleeping. I remember staring at the Polar notification, half-expecting it to be a mistake. I just wanted to build something small enough to actually finish and break my procrastination streak. So, this project started as a quiet challenge to myself—ship something small, do it properly, and finish it this time.
QR codes seemed boring enough to be doable. Then I started looking at what was already out there. Most free generators stamp a watermark on the code or inject ads. The paid tiers are expensive and lock you into annual commitments. I kept finding posts and reviews from individuals and small businesses who were frustrated with the big players—review sites were full of complaints. That gap felt like an opening. Four months later, the numbers are small but real:
- 👥 250+ signups
- 💰 $55 MRR
- 📈 ~2k monthly visitors
- ✅ Listed on TrustMRR
What surprised me the most: most of my traffic comes from ChatGPT, not Google. People ask for QR tools, and EZQR shows up. I just wrote pages and blog posts clearly and kept the structure clean. I'm not pretending this is a business yet. It's a side project that started paying for its own infra, which is more than I expected when I started the project. I'll keep working on it.
