It would be cool if we could all share 1-3 specific strategies that brought some listeners to our podcast.
Here're mine:
- Smash Notes: It's for writing highlights about your podcast, which you can then share on social networks. These highlights make your episode appear on the front page of Smash Notes, which has brought +300 downloads to Failory's podcast.
- Snapchat ADs: I've already shared about this in this post. They are offering some free credits so there isn't much to lose.
- PodHunt: I shared one of my episodes there and it got many likes and RTs on Twitter. Pretty sure it brought some listeners.
Top three strategies:
In my experience, tweeting about episodes doesn't spur meaningful growth. I've had podcast tweets get hundreds of retweets and mediocre download counts.

One of my missions is to help podcasters win and get more visibility.
My biggest belief is that if you're a podcaster you should not be missing out on platforms where a lot of potential listeners hangout. Instagram is a prime example. It’s purely visual.
So I’ve worked my ass off building a free tool to help you win the visual game. I was able to grow https://instagram.com/storycreatorapp from 30-100 followers this past week by being consistent and sharing eye-catching audio visualizers.
I can’t say I’ve built something that requires no work on your end. You’ll still have to engage and make sure your podcasts are entertaining.
I just released 3 templates at https://storycreatorapp.com/templates you can check them out and use them for free just swap out the stock content for your own.
All I ask in return is you let me know if you use it and if you have any feedback.
Creating listener surveys
blogging about episodes
creating a community
Two tactics from me:
Here’s an article I recommended on the NoiseCutters newsletter a while ago: https://medium.com/@nathanlatka/how-i-launched-fastest-growing-business-podcast-ever-1-new-and-noteworthy-75k-downloads-in-45-364581592315
Lots of takeaways on how to make the algorithm work for you, get your interviewees to help get more exposure, and more.
I would suggest .. go and read his book as well. Great value
