The Problem: The "Bed-Rot" Trap
We’ve all been there. You wake up, grab your phone "just to check the time," and 45 minutes later you’re still scrolling. Your brain is foggy, your room is a mess, and you’ve already lost the lead on your day before your feet have even touched the floor.
I got tired of losing this battle, so I decided to build the solution I couldn't find.
The Solution: A Physical Habit Lock
I’m building an app that acts as a "digital hostage" situation for your morning. It locks your distracting apps (Social Media, YouTube, Games) the moment your alarm goes off.
The only way to unlock them? You have to get out of bed and take a photo of your made bed.
Why this works:
It’s not just about having tidy sheets. It’s about forced momentum. By making your bed to "earn" your phone time, you:
Physically break the cycle: You can’t make a bed while lying in it.
Claim an immediate win: You finish the "first task of the day" within 60 seconds of waking up.
Morning Habit Tracking: I’m building in a streak system to track how many hours of "scrolling time" you save over a month.
Status: Building in Public
The app isn’t fully ready for the App Store yet (I’m currently fine-tuning the image recognition so you can’t "cheat" the system). However, I’m at the stage where I need genuine opinions from fellow builders:
Is the "Physical Lock" too much friction? Or is this the level of "tough love" people actually need to fix their dopamine loops?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the concept. If this sounds like something that would actually save your morning, let me know!
