Success with Problem-less Product?

I'm currently working on a side project that doesn't solve any particular problem. I had a fun idea for a DTC greeting card service with a twist. The idea was simple and straight forward so I figured SOMEONE must already do it and do it well. Nope.

I set off to figure out how to piece something together to make it work, mostly with no code tools like Webflow and Integromat/make. After validating that I could indeed build it, I started taking it more seriously.

But the question still nags at me, this isn't solving a problem so can it be successful? Because of this, I feel like the business must heavily rely on branding to be successful.

What I don't want to do is build something that heavily relies on paid advertising to drive sales. To combat this, I will focus on building a newsletter for the business but that can be a lengthy process.

Overall, I think there can be success with this idea if executed properly but would love any feedback from the IH community.

The website is still a WIP but you can check it out at https://JoyyCards.com

It's an interesting approach - people do actually spend for reasons other than solving a problem, after all.

I'm thinking that postal delivery of a physical card tto international destinations may be a difficult thing to handle, on top of the already difficult prospect of creating and mailing a physical card. It's an area that I have not investigated, however, so I suppose that there may already be providers who can help with that kind of fulfillment so that you don't take the entire burden upon yourself.

In my mind, products that aren't solving a problem need a strong brand identity, which will be fun to work on.

I do have the fulfillment process figured out. I won't be responsible for distribution which is nice that I have that covered.

I feel your pain. I've worked on several side projects (iOS apps) that seem more "fun" than "problem solving". I've always felt somewhat deterred, especially when reading articles on how to grow the app.

Yeah, I feel confident about the project simply because i'm so motivated for my love of the idea. Either way, it'll be a fun journey.

That's a great idea! But first Id like to test the waters and validate the idea with a simple QR code.
