This is a repost from couple years ago. Never got to implement this but I finally have some time to work on it this.
The idea is to create a platform for connecting developers with customers who are in need for support when their site/software suddenly stops working. For eg. when your WordPress site goes down and you don't have the expertise to fix it. Customer can be connected to a developer within minutes. Platform follows the same business model as Uber/Lyft.
Target audience would be small to medium size business owners. This can be useful for a customer and developer. Customers no longer need an expensive monthly support contracts that they barely take advantage on monthly basis and the indie developers has a way to earn extra income. I’m thinking the hourly rate would be between $50-100 USD.
Would you be interested in service like this as a customer or developer?
I would appreciate if you could fill out the following survey if you are interested.
The value proposition does make sense but I might be apprehensive about possibly sharing server creds (even temporarily if server goes down) with someone who's not full-time on the team.
First question which comes up to my mind: why would I use your platform instead of something like Upwork?
No bidding process. A developer is connected to the customer instantly. The instant feature depends on the pool of developers signed up and availability, just like Uber.
I'm not sure if instant matching is solving a pain point with the currently existing solutions out there 🤔 But I'm also not an expert so you might be onto something here.
