Tech Team Subscription Idea validation

Hello Indie Hackers Community!

I hope you're all doing well. I've been brewing an idea and wanted to tap into the collective wisdom of this incredible community for some valuable feedback.

The Idea in a Nutshell:

I'm part of the team at Kinetik Dynamics (kinetik dot tech), and we're contemplating the launch of a new offering – Tech Teams on Subscription. We envision this service as a game-changer for growing startups (those with at least raised seed funding) and medium to large enterprises. Here's the core of our idea:

What's "Tech Teams on Subscription"?

It's exactly what it sounds like – a subscription-based service where we offer tech teams to businesses. Each tech team would comprise:

1. Two seasoned developers with expertise in either LAMP or MERN stacks.
2. A dedicated product manager to ensure project success.
3. An on-demand DevOps expert for those crucial deployment moments.

Pricing Details:

We're currently looking at pricing the service at approximately $5,850 USD per month. This cost would cover everything – the team members' salaries, overheads, and management.
Furthermore, we're considering an ongoing maintenance fee of $2,500 per month to ensure that our clients receive continuous support even after their product launch.

Why We Need Your Help:

We believe this idea has immense potential, but we also recognize that the Indie Hackers community is filled with brilliant minds who can provide valuable insights, ask the tough questions, and help us refine our concept.

Thank you all for your time and support. We're eager to hear your thoughts and engage in some meaningful discussions around this concept. Let's build something great together!

Some thoughts, in no particular order...

If your customers have an existing business and already know they need the people and skills you have listed, why would they not already have employed them? Why would they be waiting for your offer to appear? Are you, in fact, targetting startups who may not have those resources?

What availability levels would you guarantee?

What development methodologies would you use?

What intellectual property and confidentiality undertakings would you give?

What tools would you provide to ensure visibility of progress and tasks completed?

Which time zone are you in? That may be important for some markets.

      Hi,
Thanks for your key points. I will try to answer one by one.

      1. For this offering, I want to target the startups who don't want to onboard permanent tech teams at this moment.

      2. Team will work 360 hours per month dedicated to any specific project, 5 days a week, 22 days a month. We also have some communication culture in place so that the clients don't feel lost.

      3. We usually maintain Agile scrum for all of our project. I am a certified scrum master and product owner myself.

      4. Any work that we do absolutely belongs to our clients. A proper NDA will be in place.

      5. Discord, Trello, Github - that's what we heavily use.

      6. This is a very important point in my opinion. I am in UTC+6 timezone.

Overall, what do you think about this offer considering the value propositions and pricing?

      1. 2

I think it sounds like a good deal. But there's an old cynicism in business (i.e. the much bigger business world outside of software) about things which seem “too good”…

I think you should plan to remove that possible initial scepticism by some very detailed explanations and illustrations about your availability, continuity, reliability, and value-adding contributions. Pictures of the people who will be involved, their profiles, their experience, their portfolios etc. are going to be very important, I think.

        1. 1

Adding the pictures of the team and their core expertise sounds like a very good suggestion. Do you think the pricing is good enough for the potential clients? I intend to make sure that our clients get the full value out of the money they spend every month.

            Hi,

Pricing was really my point about being "too good to be true".... I can envisage your potential customers thinking: "Can you really deliver high-quality value consistenly and reliablyfor that price?". That's where the profiles and experience elements will be key.

            1. 1

Thank you so much for all the great suggestions.

how will you build a team of 4 very hard-to-find professionals with $5,850 USD?

    1. 1

      I guess, that's my competitive advantage. ;)
