Test flight launch!
it’s been a whopping 1 year of development. Tons of iterations and multiple full time job swaps but we are finally launching Safe Space for beta users!
Safe Space - is a tool for storing encrypting photos and in future videos on you own iCloud. Privacy first, affordable and simple to use. The goal it to have best in class UX and simple, but reliable security.
And after a year I think we did it. Of course it’s bare bones at the moment and we have a long of listed feature we’ll add before we can start selling the app in the app store, but the fundamentals are there
Encryption - first and foremost the encryption will not change. Anything we do from that moment will be indestructible. The app we are building is “old school” single purposed app, we are focusing on make it reliable and simple. Users privacy and ease of use will always be the priority. No fancy attempts to make a monstrosity SaaS from simple app. Bug fixes and improvements will be the priority and we hope you’ll enjoy it.
SwiftUI - the whole app is single SwiftUI codebase. Mac OS app is building and working fine, but we are working on designs. Which means all the new platform features will be easier to implement. SwiftUI will become more reliable with time and it should be a lot easier to support future versions.
Apple seems to be ok with the app idea - That was a scary one, we didn’t know if Apple allow this types of apps and as for now we didn’t get an app store approval due to “limited functionality” apparently encryption itself is not good enough, which is fine I think and we’ll get there.
Overall that was an unmatched experience. Building side project is definitely a marathon, life always hits and the speed of changes in tech industry is increasing daily, but I’m glad we find time to build a software with ideas we enjoy. It’s not fancy it’s plain old do 1 thing type of app with reasonable pricing we are aiming to 5$ per year or 15$ lifetime. Subscriptions are not perfect, but may be it’s a good approach to test something before committing full sum. Let me know what you think if and if you want to join test flight ✌️
