The Bottleneck Isn't Storage. It's Retrieval.

I think we've largely solved the problem of storing information.

Need to save something?

You have notes apps.
Bookmarks.
Screenshots.
Cloud storage.
AI chats.

Saving information has never been easier.

Yet most people still experience the same frustration:

"I know I saved it somewhere."

That sentence fascinates me.

Because it reveals the real problem.

The bottleneck isn't storage.

It's retrieval.

The value of information isn't created when you save it.

It's created when you can find and use it at the exact moment you need it.

A saved idea that never resurfaces is almost the same as a forgotten idea.

The same applies to prompts, notes, insights, articles, and even conversations.

This realization is one of the reasons I've been building what I call the Memory Universe.

Most of the tools I'm designing aren't focused on helping people save more information.

They're focused on helping people retrieve the right information with less friction.

That's where I think a lot of productivity tools still fall short.

I'm curious whether others feel the same.

When you lose something valuable, is it usually because you never saved it?

Or because you couldn't find it again?
