The middle of a long build has no landmarks
Every build has a start (exciting) and a finish (satisfying). Nobody talks about the middle — the stretch with no visible progress, no dopamine hit, just the work. That's usually where I've seen people, including past-me, quietly stop.
I've been building a faceless YouTube channel making long-form deep work music — no voiceover, no lyrics, just sound designed to disappear into. The newest one (4 hours, beatless, ambient) was made specifically for that unglamorous middle stretch, not the sprint at the start or the push at the end.
Curious how other people here handle the middle of a long build — do you have an actual system, or do you just grind through it?

One thing I've started noticing is that the middle isn't empty of progress - it just changes what progress looks like.
At the beginning, progress is visible because everything is new. At the end, it's visible because something exists. In the middle, progress often looks like fewer unknowns, better decisions, and more consistency. It's quieter, which makes it much easier to mistake for standing still.
