Sent out a few messages.
Got replies.
People were interested.
Some even said things like:
“this looks really useful”
I thought I had it.
Then I asked them to try it.
And everything just… stopped.
No pushback.
No “this isn’t for me”.
Just silence.
It didn’t feel like lack of interest.
It felt like something broke right at the moment they had to decide.
Since then I’ve started noticing the same pattern in other products too:
People get it.
They explore.
They’re close.
But then they pause.
Almost like they’re asking themselves:
“does this actually apply to me right now?”
And if that’s not instantly obvious — they don’t move.
Even if they like it.
Feels like a lot of products don’t fail in discovery…
but in that tiny moment between:
“this is interesting”
and
“I’m actually going to do this”
Curious if others have run into this?
Curious if this resonates more with people building something new,
or those trying to fix an existing product?
Feels like I’ve mostly seen it when something is “almost working”
but not quite.
