Thinking of selling React Libraries... need advice
At the beginning of this year we launched ReactLibraries.com. It was a really fun project and we had a lot of good traction. However, we've since had to table the project because of time constraints and circumstances.
We're only a team of 2, and we had both lost our main sources of income, so we had to refocus on getting some new clients/work. Now things have become more stable, and we really want to focus on our first product Viyo.io because it's had a lot of good traction (500+ users and 2 subscriptions). Our time is already limited and we don't want to spread ourselves too thin.
We talked about selling the project and we are currently still deciding.
For those of you that have sold a project, what was your experience? Do you have any advice?
I just wanted to say Viyo.io is a super cool project. I've read about the environmental damage caused by all the devices we throw away in the world every year. Having this project allow you to upcycle old devices to keep them out of the landfill is AWESOME for the planet! Cool idea!

The environmental benefits of using our software is something we want to communicate more, but we just haven't had the opportunity to create the content around it.

So just an update... we've decided not to sell.
Based on our research on platforms like Flippa and talking to others that have sold, we don't think it will be worth the payout. Since ReactLibraries.com isn't currently making any revenue, it likely won't be bought for enough. But as it is, it is still a great piece in our portfolio that we can refer to. Our thinking is that it will probably be worth more to us as a marketing/portfolio project rather than money in our pockets.
I appreciate all the people that answered :) And I would love to hear if you have thoughts about our decision.
Hey @geoffchan23 I think selling react/javascript libraries could be the next trend over the internet. That's why I have built https://privJs.com where you could actually sell your codes as a npm packages with ease. What were your initial plans for the project? Was it always meant to be a fun project, or did you ever expect to turn it into something bigger.
We didn't really do much to grow the project. We get something like 10-15 visitors a day organically from SEO. The project currently doesn't make any money. Originally we were thinking it would be a cool project for the React community. We wanted to make it easy to search for React libraries, similar to https://www.ruby-toolbox.com/. We were thinking of trying to use affiliate ads to monetize, and I believe we are setup with a few, but we never made any money.
