Posted about the exact problem my product solves. good engagement, a bunch of "this is so me" replies. i was sure one of them had signed up.
checked mongodb today. nobody. not one of the people who engaged actually came through.
that gap , between "this resonates" and "i'll actually make an account " is the part nobody warned me about. attention isn't intent.
so i'm changing the approach. less posting into the void, more replying to people one at a time where they're already describing the problem.
curious if others have felt this. what actually closed the gap for you between a like and a real user?
One thing I'd be careful with:
Zero signups doesn't necessarily tell you the problem wasn't real.
But it also doesn't necessarily tell you the engagement was.
Sometimes people respond because they recognize themselves in a story.
Sometimes they respond because they're actively looking for a solution.
Those can look surprisingly similar in the comments.
