Last year, I was searching hard for a solution that would allow me to plug in my database url and start running queries and making non-ugly dashboards to analyze the activities of my users and the growth of my platform.
I had little luck and almost decided to build it myself. Unfortunately, building it myself was out of the question because I didn't have the time or experience building useful dashboards. I needed something very flexible, and I knew I didn't want to spend the time on it. Months past and I somehow happened upon something wonderful.
Metabase is pretty darn awesome. Give it your database connection url, SQL, Mongo, Postgress, etc. and it'll let you run queries and make dashboards. Now I have dashboards and graphs for everything. And it's open source.
This is not a promotional post. I just really want the knowledge to be out there because, when I was looking, there was no information out there about a flexible solution to this problem.
I agree, metabase is really fantastic! Was super useful building dashboards on top of mongodb in a previous product, felt like magic.
