I'm currently working on a UX design project for a problem I've personally been having...
Very often I'll come across an article, a video, or a podcast that seems interesting. Maybe it has a topic that I'd like to learn about, or it's a skill I'm looking to develop, but in that moment I might not have time to fully read/watch/listen to it.
What I usually do is I copy and paste the link into my notes or into a Google Doc The issue is that I often forget about it or forget where I put the link, which leads to a lost opportunity.
The internet is filled with great resources that we can access completely for free. The issue, is there doesn't seem to be an easy, seamless, and simple way to organize it.
So a couple days ago, I had the idea of creating a design prototype of a browser extension that would help me save these links for later and organize them into folders that I could review at my own time. I did a bit of research and saw that there were some browser extensions that saved links, but I felt some were too generic or the use-case around learning/curating resources wasn't emphasized.
So, I'm currently designing a prototype to make a simple browser extension with a clean UX design that will attempt to solve this problem. My main challenge has been finding a focus for this solution as it seems the opportunities are endless. I could see myself using this tool to aggregate content across youtube to teach myself various skills (eg. coding, ux design, etc...). I could picture having dedicated folders for meal prepping recipes. I could see myself having a folder for things and people that inspire me (eg. role models, cool design projects, etc...). I could see myself use this tool for travel planning when I'm looking for things to do abroad (eg. restaurants, hikes, hostels, airbnb's, attractions, visa tips, relevant vaccinations, etc..). I could see myself creating a playlist of youtube exercise classes. I could see myself using this in university to study (eg. Khan Academy, Youtube, etc...).
So my question to all reading - do others face similar problems to me? And if you were saving links and using this tool what do you think you'd use it for the most?
Thanks in advance for feedback!
