Two friends of mine (Mert & Kadir, actually Kadir is my husband hehe,) about 25 years of building software between them, recently turned their consulting into a productized service, and I just loved their approach and the model seemed worth sharing here.
Instead of scoping projects and estimating hours, they sell fixed monthly tiers and the client just picks one:
Pilot — $4,000, two weeks, one priority (a trial run)
Maintain — $5,000/mo, keep live software healthy
Build — $8,500/mo, move the roadmap one priority at a time
Scale — $13,000/mo, run as the whole product + eng team
One-month minimum, then month-to-month. That's the entire pricing page.
Curious if anyone else here has productized their consulting this way — did fixed monthly tiers work for you, or did clients still push for hourly?
(They're at https://twoheads.net/ if anyone's curious.)
The pricing is interesting, but the bigger shift seems to be what the client is actually buying.
It stops feeling like "engineering capacity" and starts feeling like a predictable way to make progress.
I'd be curious whether that's what resonates most in conversations, or if clients still naturally compare it to hourly consulting.
Yeah, momentum's pretty much the whole thing once it gets rolling. We'll see how it goes. And that line you used "stops feeling like engineering capacity, starts feeling like a predictable way to make progress" is a great point, loved it, and I'll suggest them to mention it on the site. Glad it landed the way it did.
Glad it resonated.
There was one other thought I didn't want to dump into the thread because it goes a bit beyond the pricing angle.
What's the best email to reach you on?
Fire away whenever, they'll be curious to hear it 👀 hello@twoheads.net
Sent over what I was getting at.
