Two idea inspirations from random posts on Craigslist

I have a hobby: scroll through random craigslist posts looking for inspiration. Something about "one person's trash is another person's treasure"... I hope this triggers ideas of your own.

  1. A post titled "Antique doors" that reads
Antique doors

I have hundreds.
Please Visit: website link
Thanks
Rob

accompanied by 20 low-ish quality photos of all kinds of antique-looking doors. The website is a simple image gallery built on Wix that lists a ton more doors, a contact form etc, but no data about the products. Given the state of the housing market at the moment, I'm willing to bet that there are more than a handful of interior designers looking for antique doors right this moment, and there is gotta be more people around that deal with specialized materials/decor. Meta point: there are these weird niche pockets of supply that are looking to connect with pockets of demand. What can one do about this? Something to think about.

  1. Another head scratcher that reads
Nuts and Bolts

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF NEW NUTS, BOLTS, & FASTENERS
(from a Hardware Store Liquidation)

NEW in the package/box.
TOO MUCH to list, selling the complete lot!!!

Assuming you have the funds (or can find some) and that this could be purchased at liquidation prices, what could you do with an inventory of products that you get for way below market price? Repackage and resell elsewhere? Build a niche (DIY/maker) e-commerce site for fasteners? Build automation technology that can deal with packaging/kitting these things? Physical product "maker YouTube" is a very rapidly growing space, and people there buy nuts and bolts all the time. Figure out wholesale channels? (Before you say "but Amazon": in this product category, amazon sucks for anything more complicated than common hardware like your typical woodscrews etc. McMaster-Carr and BoltDepot would be your real competition).

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Maybe it'll give you ideas. If you want more details or links to the posts, hit me up on DM or twitter.
