Update: Kickstarter didn't fund. Launched Focuser today anyway

Two months ago I posted here about getting let go, spending 18 months building a productivity app, and taking it to Kickstarter. That was the setup.
Payoff: the campaign closed today without funding. All pledges released, nobody charged. And the app launched today anyway.

I said it during the campaign and I meant it; Kickstarter was for runway and awareness, not survival. The core product is built. A day planning dashboard that spans from this hour to this year, user-defined Focuses, Secondary Checklists, flexible Reminders, Stories for journaling, rich Notes, and a searchable event chronicle. All working. All live.

The feature the campaign was meant to fund, Focus Metrics, also shipped today. It's the analytical layer that measures whether your actual effort distribution aligns with what you say matters to you: effort distribution across Focuses, a per-Focus satisfaction score, an overall balance score, trends over any time window. The Insights layer, which sends your effort data to Claude (Anthropic's LLM) to generate natural-language observations about your actual patterns, is built but gated behind a config flag. I'll flip it on after a bit more iteration on prompting and data packaging. Shipped on day one instead of six months from now.

What funding would have bought was runway for the remaining integrations: Apple Reminders sync, Google Tasks sync, calendar imports, location-based reminders, push notifications. Those get harder without funding, but they're coming. Meanwhile, the iOS and Android builds are production-ready and submitting to the App Store and Google Play within the next day or two.

The question the app is built to answer isn't "did you finish your tasks?" It's was your life a success today? Did how you spent your time serve the areas of your life you say matter most? That's Focuser.
