Hey hackers, as part of a personal journey into understanding technological progress around the world, I'll be posting on innovative companies that I come across. This is my selection for this past week:
Better origin
Better Origin turns food waste to animal feed, with an insect-assist.

Transform any excavator into a trenching robot with an easy-to-install aftermarket upgrade.
Beewise
The Israeli startup created a box designed to sit outside and serve as a kind of automated apiary. The solar-powered enclosure monitors its beehives, offering climate control and automated harvesting. It’s designed to monitor for issues, including intrusive pets, while adjusting conditions inside to prevent swarming behaviors among its tenants.
Dyson air mask
Over the past two years, air purifiers have seen a massive spike in sales here in the U.S., starting with a 57% increase in 2020. The pandemic, coupled with phenomena like the California wildfires, has driven many to install filters in their homes and offices. All the while, the engineers at Dyson have been asking themselves one important question: What if we found a way to put the purifier directly on people’s faces?

Our hands are among the most sensitive and finely controlled constructions in the universe, the culmination of a hundred million years of evolution. Robots simply don’t have the senses necessary to figure out the perfect technique for picking a berry. But what if it could communicate with the berry to better sense the forces involved and avoid either a brutal crushing. This could unlock tremendous opportunities.
