We all go fast and break things so share your best bugs
One of the most common pieces of advice that's dispensed here and on the podcast is to not care that much about code quality while still building and validating your product. I totally agree with this and have used this approach myself but it's also one that obviously lead to bugs in a product.
Some of the ones I've had have been funny, some have been dreadful. So let's have some fun - I want to hear about some of your best bugs!
I can share one of my best ones. Last year I implemented a "reply" functionality for users who receive a card via my online card service, Thankbox. This was meant to let recipients of a card send a "thank you" to everyone who left a message on their card.
It was supposed to send an email with the reply only to the people who'd left a message on it.
Instead, when I deployed this to production and had the first person use it it ended up sending the reply to anyone who had ever left a message on any card 😱. Thankbox was still relatively small at that point but I still ended up email spamming almost 1000 people.
