We Built a Brand That AI Doesn't Know Exists

Most startups want AI to recommend them.

We wanted something different.

We wanted AI to know absolutely nothing about us.

So we built Founder Lab. A real Shopify store.

Real products... Real customers...

But almost no digital footprint. No recommendation history. No AI memory. No brand awareness.

Why?

Because this gives us something that's surprisingly hard to find: A true Day Zero.

From here we can watch, step by step, how AI begins to discover a completely new e-commerce brand.

Not through assumptions.

Through evidence.

Before making any changes, we measured the baseline.

AI Commerce Score: 78 / 100
AI recommendation history: none
AI memory: none

That's exactly where we wanted to start. Most research looks backward.

It studies stores that have existed for years.

We're trying something different. We're documenting what happens before AI knows a brand exists.

Every technical improvement. Every product rewrite. Every structured data change. Every new AI crawler. Every recommendation. Every success. Every failure.

We'll publish everything.

Because if we want to understand how AI discovers brands, we need to observe the very beginning, not just the outcome.

Has anyone else here tried documenting AI discoverability from Day Zero?

I'd genuinely love to compare notes.
