Week 1: Launched Copy URL and started the 1K-in-30-days challenge

Hey IH! First build-in-public update for Copy URL.

What is it: A tiny Chrome extension (48kb) that copies the current page URL with one keyboard shortcut — Ctrl+Shift+C. No popup, no clicks, no permissions, zero tracking. Free forever.

Why I built it: I was sharing 20+ links a day for work and research. Right-click, Copy Link Address got old fast. I wanted something instant, so I built it.

Week 1 recap:

  • Shipped to Chrome Web Store

  • - Set up Twitter (@AltTabRoman) and started daily engagement

  • - Posted on Hacker News and Indie Hackers

  • - Extension is 48kb total, zero dependencies

  • - Revenue: $0 (it's free, no monetization yet)

The challenge: Can a tiny, free tool hit 1,000 users in 30 days through organic growth only? No ads, no paid promotion. Just building in public and being useful in conversations.

Next week: Focus on Reddit communities, gather first user feedback, and explore whether a "copy as markdown" feature would be worth adding.

If you copy URLs a lot, give it a try: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/copy-url-%E2%80%94-one-click-url/ndpdhbnlllblljkmbcdolnjpbcfolnme

Would love to hear how other solo builders approach the first 30 days of a new product launch.
