Week 1 Update: Career Switch To Coding

Hello IH'ers,

Last week was my first full week on Career Switch To Coding. Thanks for all the support so far, here is a Monday morning recap and plan post.

What I did:

  • Launched landing page
  • Wrote 10,000 works of the book (about halfway through I think)
  • Started Tweeting (@allthecode_)
  • Announced landing page launch on my Instagram (@allthecode)
  • Setup MailChimp, wrote a welcome email, created welcome automation
  • Completed another 2 sections of Amy Hoy's YearOfHustle
  • Worked the last day of my old job (the new one starts on 2nd Aug so I have 4 full weeks)
  • Wrote a couple of posts here on Indie Hackers and got amazing comments from people
  • Asked 7 people if I can interview them for site content

Results:

  • 495 visits to the website
  • 31 people on the mailing list
  • 38 followers on Twitter (boy is Twitter hard)
  • 54 new Instagram followers (up to 2317)
  • 1 reply to welcome email
  • 2 confirmed interviews

This week:

  • Move site from Carrd/DropInBlog to Wix or Squarespace
  • Submit a conference speaking proposal
  • Post Junior++ weekly theme content on IG and Twitter
  • Finish the first draft of the careerswitchtocoding.com book
  • Write and publish 2 blog posts
  • Write a dev.to and Hackernoon article and submit them
  • Nail down a concept with an illustrator
  • Plan 5 pieces of content separate from the book
