Last week was the close of a month and the first month I went heads in doing things for Twitter. Although I had started Tweeting things in July, in August I upped the game and made sure I posted around 5 tweets a day.

My main focus is to reflect the community onto Twitter, I've been doing this by:

    • sharing things like discussion posts, AMAs and milestones
    • bringing as much info to Twitter so that people don't have to click a link
    • sometimes I will put links, other times I won't, it's not really about driving traffic
    • I've continued to post quotes 2-3 times a week
    • experimented with some polls
    • other people in the IH team post Tweets for the podcast, interviews, Instagram stories
    • asking questions

My goal is to increase the Tweet impressions

    • in June there was only minimal tweet of articles and interviews - 200k impressions
    • in July I experimented with posting tweets, probably just 1 day - 500k impressions
    • in August I did around 5 tweets a day (week days) we crossed the 1 million mark (only just!) by the end of the month

For September I hope to increase on that number, but also get a bit better at scheduling Tweets in advance and create a nice queue of Tweets.

I've also been running Facebook and Reddit ad campaigns again since notifications landed.

    • Android app installation campaigns on Facebook and Reddit are focused on DnD related interests.
      • These are producing a steady amount of new users.
    • Boosted the PvP announcement on Facebook
      • Got to learn about page moderation since Facebook is trying to find me Engagements. I'd be more interested in Reach, since most people that comment on Facebook ads are usually just going to bitch about spam. Is there a way to boost an announcement correctly, or is the answer here to just never run boosts, only ads?
      • Stopped this early.
    • Tried a cheeky "Stuck in the queue? This will tide you over" experimental ad aimed at the WoW Classic crowd over peak hours on Labor Day.
      • Reddit let me target much more narrowly, worked about as well as my other Reddit ads, and didn't use all the available spend.
      • Facebook lit all the money on fire. At over a $1 a click, this is the most expensive advertisement to date!

I'm also trying to use my Apple Search Ads credit (one-time $100), but it's not really helpful. I'm still learning the control and have used half the credit already. I've gotten 64 taps and no installations, so helpfully the keywords I just setup will help it do a better job of bidding on the right potential players.

From what I understand it has become really hard to get reach on Facebook pages without paying. I've never actually paid for anything and we've kind of gave up on our FB page (different industry) as it was returning very little results.

Great to see the numbers keep growing. :)

Well, the boost is still paying. But I have definitely seen what you are describing. It feels very chicken and egg. I can basically only show posts to people that have already liked me unless I'm willing to pay.

But the growth is very encouraging! Up to 328 player accounts.
