What is your view on Web3 vs. Web2?

I have been actively investing in cryptos since 2016.

I actually developed my first web3 app late last year. For a developer it's just another API.

As for the business value, it's slowly getting there, but the tech is still very primitive.

For example, I invested in Matic (Polygon now) back in 2019, when they had their ICO. They promised to build a L2 solution that will have almost feeless transactions. They succeeded and now if you want to develop any web3 app that can be used by people without a massive net-worth, building on the Polygon network is the way to go. Polygon has been the biggest and most impactful innovation over the past 2.5 years imo.

But in my perspective, the space is maturing very slowly. Until you can start running the web3 logic in the backend, while the end-user doesn't even know they are interacting with a web3 app, only then I think mass-scale adoption will take place. Signing transactions and doing all of that is definitely necessary for security. But if you look at it from a web2 perspective, it's the same as manually making API calls.

In the end web2 and web3 will just be integrated seamlessly. Still it will probably take at least 5-10 years and a lot of innovation for web3 to truly flourish.
