What problem do you think Notion solves?

Please don't get me wrong with my question. I do like Notion and have been using it for a while now. However, this question is to learn your perspectives.
I've been reading a lot about "solving a problem". It has to be a real pain point that people are ready to pay for. This, of course, makes sense.

When I think of tools like Notion, I'm unable to think of what "problem" did they solve? Google Docs exist back then with all the collaboration features and other features. I believe the number of people trying to see both text (docs) and numbers (sheets) on the same page might not be many—provided that you can easily have a link inside Google Docs.

Yes, writing on Notion certainly "feels" different. But is that the problem they started with? Was it about making docs creation "easy" and a "great experience".

I completely get the wide range of use cases of Notion today - from creating blogs to building websites and personal knowledge management and many others. I think These evolved over a period of time.

Is it possible that starting with a problem is overrated? Can making things easy be considered a problem in itself? While I agree that having a clear problem statement increases the likelihood of success, I am curious about your thoughts on this matter.
