What’s your daily marketing process/routine (early days)?

Hey Hackers!

I just launched my product (http://scopeconcierge.com) and am deep deep deep in the marketing trenches. I’m doing this mostly by myself at this point and I think I’m getting a bit overwhelmed with all the options and tasks I know I should be executing.

What I’d like to do is establish a daily/weekly routine to help me deal with it all.

For example:

  • M/W/F spend 2 hours posting and commenting in relevant communities.
  • 2 hours per day writing content for my audience
  • 2x per week reach out to influencers or founders of tools servicing my same audience to potentially look for partnerships.

Something along those lines to help me not get overwhelmed by it all.

Has anyone done something like this? Identify and block out time for those repeatable tasks that are going to move the needle over time?

Thanks!

Hi, great product! I think you should get (i.e. scrape) agency emails and be in contact with them. You can automate this. Second, I think you should also target the agency clients. For instance, I would want to use the product to backup why I want to pay X. I would send them a link of scopeconcierge and get the discussion going.

Don't get overwhelmed have targets. Have weekly and monthly targets. It all takes time.
    My routine would be:

    1. Find agencies and email them
    2. Go to Freelance marketplaces and be in contact with the freelancers
    3. Be on social media. I'll be looking for agencies, freelancers and clients to engage with them.
    4. Do some writing, as you mentioned.

Amazing, thanks for this. I actually pay for https://app.apollo.io/ which is a tool that does that email scraping/prospecting for me. Im currently in the process of writing a cold email funnel targeting those agencies.

Wow, I had never considered the use case from the client-side. That's very interesting. If that is actually something client-side might find valuable I could probably slightly modify the tool a bit to maybe allow for that.

      1. Yes.
      2. By freelance marketplaces do you mean something like Upwork or Fiver? Part of me thought that building some sort of partnership with the platforms, like, "offer this toll as a value add to the freelancers on your platform to help them price".
      3. Amazing. Yea I think i'll start with some guest posts. I also have 2 podcasts lined up so hopefully that gets things moving on the content side.

Thanks so much for the excellent info!

I'm glad you found what I said useful.

You are right on the freelance marketplaces. I was thinking Upwork and Fiverr. You could also try the partnership route as you mention. A part of me feels you might be leaving some money on the table (i.e. potentially have to give up a lot through the partnership route). Try to go directly as well.

Thanks for introducing me to a new tool: https://app.apollo.io/ . Never heard of it.

All the best! Keep in touch.

Of course, it’s soooo worth the price in my opinion?

I check Facebook forums once or twice daily and post in popular discussions. In my case, my product is a stock research app and I’m following 9 FB forums dedicated to stock market. I have seen about 10-20 downloads daily based on a well placed post.

      Wow that's amazing. So good.

My product helps agencies and freelancers scope and price digital projects. So I've found like 8-10 FB groups that I've been looking at but 1) there doesnt seem to be a ton daily action in those communities and 2) Out of the action that's there, it's not necessarily focused on pricing. Though I do certainly see posts like "How would you price something like this..."

Super interesting product! Just to add my 2 pennies, based on your description, I'm not sure FB is your best platform, definitely worth experimenting with LinkedIn and Twitter too as these are more 'acceptable' platforms to be on at work.
I also wrote a series of blog posts on this very topic if you're interested!

          Thanks @Meri_Earthfound.

Yea for sure I'll check those posts out. I am definitely not much of a LinkedIn user, does it also have heavy discussion groups around certain topics?

          1. 1

Absolutely! LinkedIn has become a lot more of a traditional social media platform in the last few years (for better or worse!) so it can be really lucrative for you depending on who your audience is. If you're targeting agency owners, it could be a good place to put certain types of content / discussion and see what happens!

Okay that’s great to know, I’ll start exploring groups for agency owners and see if I can insert myself into the convo.

You’re right about partnering, maybe that’s a secondary option
