I'm currently wrapping up my university studies as I'm trying to bootstrap jobly.so - it's been kinda tricky to juggle everything; I end up wanting to spend all my time working on Jobly 😅 hello from Melbourne btw 👋 hope you're enjoying the nice weather 🌤
Wow that's quite a story Tim! 💪
I did architecture in uni, then worked in sales for a while, quit and taught myself how to code by building my first project about 5 years ago & been freelancing and working on my side projects since then :)
I was a CTO in a startup, helping to scale up their platform before I quit my job to become full-time independent. Scary but exciting!
I'm working at a startup and currently building my own SaaS.
But I think I found my "dream company"... I believe in the product, in the team, so I don't want to quit, even if my SaaS take off. So I think building my SaaS is more like a hobby/creating new passive incomes.
Still Working at a startup and currently building my SaaS.
Working 80 hour weeks in VC startups lmao
80 hours weeks, whoa! Doesn't sound too sustainable lol.
It's not.
Neither something I recommend nor what I do anymore.
Love your story, super cool ("from locksmith to tech entrepreneur!")
Years ago, I was an e-learning consultant living in hotel rooms. Found an agency to build a learning management system and launched that as my own company. Built it up to 7-figures ARR and 40 employees, then sold.
Now I guess my previous job was "entrepreneur" as I start my 2nd software company.
Thanks, yeah it was quite the change for me.
Wow, that's an amazing story. Did you build that lms by yourself?
No, I hired an agency at first, then contractors, before eventually bringing on in-house staff. I don't know how to code.
Well, I am a consultant with a leading US-based management consultancy, joined it right after my MBA just to understand how the corporate world works. Have been working with major defense and aerospace clients from Europe for a while now, started working on my project (EarlyPing) at the weekends. My SaaS and my corporate job are very different from each other, Indian education system got me to the job while my passion for making efficient monitoring software got me into my SaaS.
Great story! Are you trying to build earlyping up to the point it can become your main job?
My last job was as a freelance developer building Rails and Android Apps for 3 years. I started my SaaS as a side project while working as a freelance part time. It was some years later when I could focus on it 100%
This is awesome, so it's now your main job? What's the app called, would love to check it out!
Thanks Tim. It's my main job since November 2018. I started having a salary from January 2021. The product is mybooking.es/en, an all-in-one solution for rental and booking based companies. A B2B SaaS.
