One of the questions that always comes up when validating an idea is... have you got an unfair advantage OR can you build one?
I've always struggled with that question. It can't be "I work really hard" or "I'm great at design" because those are not unfair... a lot of other people can work really hard or be great at design.
So, what's your unfair advantage? And, did you build it?
Try re framing the problem. Look at what your competition is doing and find their weak spots. Perhaps they aren't good at social media, or their bad at customer service. An unfair advantage won't be some super power you have. Instead it might be something you overlook because doing said thing feels natural to you.
Thanks for bringing up the discussion @thatandyrose
I'll frame it in this way: if you're struggling with the current identification, try to go deeper into 2nd or 3rd level and be more specific.
1st level - I'm great at design -> You can find great designers easily
2nd level - I'm great at Mobile app UI design -> You start narrowing the population
3rd level - I'm great at Mobile app UI design using Sketch and InVision -> Now you might see the difference
I hope it help!
