When should you launch on Product hunt?

I've been working on a b2c app (briefs.aimply.io) in a pretty commoditized space: news.

TLDR; when do you go to the effort of launching on PH, and when do you avoid it?

Going the bootstrapped route for now, I've been looking at various launch lists and figuring out what is worth my time. When I looked into how to launch on PH I found a lot of long guides; finding a "hunter", engaging your existing users to upvote you, etc.

It seems like a lot of a lot of effort for a potentially small amount of strictly early adopter clientele. I see how it could be valuable for a paid product, but ours is freemium.

Would it be worth launching our product on PH?
