When to abandon project? (app based in Denmark)
Hi,
I have had limited experience with Android development in the past, and I wanted to learn a cross development framework so I started learning flutter some 4 months ago. The plan was to just learn the best design practises and improve my coding skills.
I decided to build a clone for a local app (which I will not name here) that basically allows you to rent out your stuff (shared economy idea, rent your camera, gopro etc.) and earn some money on the side.
Fast forward to now and I am about 60% through with the app. I put a lot of time into it and I suppose my goals changed and now I want to actually bring the app to market. Problem is, I overestimated the work/time required and feel really overwhelmed right now. I am trying to stick to an MVP but there are still a lot of features that need to be implemented (payments, chat, etc.)
Should I set up a landing page and see if there is any interest? Please bear in mind that Denmark is a really small country.
The local app is really shitty so it is not so hard to "beat the competition" but I am not sure how much interest there is. The competition currently has 5k downloads on the PlayStore...
How do I find out if 4 more months of work is worth it?

Hey @Cscythe, I think you need to make a decision based on a data and then figure out if the effort you are going to put in is going to be worth the return, maybe you can port the code to different countries as well.
But for the Danish market, what I would suggest you maybe you can try keyword planner or SEMRush and see what are people searching for renting(say rent a boat in copenhagen) then analyze if the trend is going up or down and under which categories people search more.
More or less you'll have an idea of the competition and the demand, that might be a good starting point for seeing if it is worth building the app or not.
I think putting a landing page is also a good idea.
