I made a mistake, wasted 2 months of works, and I'm worthy of a big niche slap from Hormozi my gf says.
Two months ago. After finally having built some consistency around doing marketing each week, I had a relapse and slipped back into just wildly building more, in an attempt to fix my product's ZERO performence...
I worked my ass off to implement a completely new feature set in my video editing product. One that allows to create videos with AI generated visuals.
And yes, it’s a cool feature.
But i totally lost the initial focus of building a video editor for real-life explainer videos. Lost focus of targeting small business or website owners who want to make a good-looking explainer video.
I did exactly what Alex Hormozi described in $100M Offers (image). Jumping to another niche and keeping to build stuff, in an attempt to fix the product’s lacking visibility.
So 8 weeks of 10 hour days and a big realization later, what’s to do?
Dust oneself off and move on. Write that time off as a learning (and yielding some cool features that will not make it to production ;) ) and continue from the point from 2 months ago.
This here is meant to reflect on a mistake. And to hold myself accountable to avoid earning another niche slap this year. 💥
So. How do you manage the urge to fix things by building more? Are you perhaps also worthy of a niche slap or have experience with those?
Cheers, Ludwig ✌🏽
