When you should consider switching to Revue

A few days ago, @yaroslawbagriy published a great post going over some of the feature differences between Revue and Substack. I recommend checking it out if you're starting a newsletter.

One thing I'd like to add is what Twitter's acquisition of Revue could mean for those of you thinking of starting or already running a newsletter. Specifically, smaller newsletters having trouble getting subscribers.

It starts with Twitters 150+ million active users.

Judging by the success of Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, most people prefer consuming photos and videos over text. The fact that Twitter has so many people who like to consume text is unique and extremely valuable for newsletter publishers specifically.

On top of that, I would argue that Twitter is already the biggest platform, by a wide margin, for people looking for insights, ideas and thought leaders in any number of topics.

These are the same kind of people who are more likely to subscribe to newsletters. And since they already have users emails, subscribing could be as easy as pressing a button.

There is no better platform to solve newsletter discoverability and provide publishers with reach to find new subscribers than Twitter.

I don't know if this will happen, but why would they buy Revue unless they see this potential? and if it does happen, being an early adopter could pay off, even if the technology isn't the best.

Where's the rest of the article 😃 ?

I came in expecting to find the answer to the question you posed: "When you should consider switching to Revue[?]" but came up short.

Did you forget to link to the full article elsewhere?

(If it matters, I have accounts on both Substack and Revue, so was hoping to learn why I should reconsider switching to Revue now that they've ditched the paid plan so they are comparable to Substack's free tier.)

      Hey, thanks for reading :)

I didn't explicitly lay it out. My mistake.

I think you should consider switching if Twitter provides Revue publishers with reach to their 150+ million active users. Twitter could become a platform for discovering newsletters, the same way YouTube is a platform for discovering channels.

I hope that clears things up.
