Hi,
I'm looking for some advice 🙂
I'm co-founding a SAAS API product designed to help businesses open up their internal APIs for public consumption and 3rd party integrations with Zapier etc... We launched in March, but we've had little traction through efforts with SEO content and socials.
On the side, we run an agency specialising in APIs and Data. Through the agency, we have made sales with existing customers.
I would describe them as:
Founders of B2B SMB SAAS businesses who have paying customers. The customers want to access their data via API integrations. It's a priority, but they can't action it through their existing backlogs. It's the founder we're targeting, not the developer for this audience.
Our solution removes the buy vs build question around security, time to market and customer adoption data.
My questions are:
Does this cohort sound familiar?
If yes, where do they hang out?
If not, any thoughts on how to adjust it?
Thanks for any insight you can offer. Nick
I really like using Reddit to find my target audience and a good way to find subreddits they hang out is to simply use Google and use search terms such as "site:reddit.com <competitor 1, value proposition, how to X etc.>". You'll find loads of posts and comments this way (that are also probably relevant to you) and you can simply check which subreddits they were posted in.
After reading your post it's still a bit difficult for me to think exactly what search term you would use, but you probably know yourself. Do you have any competitors? If so, try using the above to find out where their customers hang out.
Thanks, @amosbastian. In the market, there are some big-player alternatives like AWS and GCloud. TBH our biggest competition is the in-house lead developer choosing to build a solution themselves. I will try your idea though!
