Hey Indie Hackers.
I came to a question that I cannot find an answer to by myself. I believe the IH community might help to find the correct answer.
The question is, who are the customers of projects such as webflow, wix etc.
I thought it is an easy question until started to build a landing page for my project, which is also no-code related, but I cannot describe my audience right.
I would suggest that most people here use the projects above to build their landing pages and for other needs, but I need to find a quite better understanding of the customers of such and other no-code projects.
The main category is the people who need a website, right?
But how to call them correctly, developers, freelancers, agencies?
Looking for something simple and short, to better understand my future audience and customers.
Thank you for your help,
Zero snark intended but Webflow’s lander nails my understanding of their audience fairly well…
I have quite a few Wix customers and they tend to be small business owners with very little technical experience. A lot of them are single person businesses outside of tech (health, fitness, food, etc).
As far as I have experienced, Webflow is a little more technical and used by people familiar with HTML and CSS. Besides, I see web designers are more prone towards Webflow when they decide to develop their designs. Whereas, Wix is preferred by people whose profession has nothing to do with web design, development, and programming in general.
By the way, I am a WordPress user myself.
I'd echo what @arafatgazi says (and I'm also a WordPress user). People on Wix, Squarespace tend to be less technical and likely building a product or service not in the technology space. Most are small business owners looking to setup a digital business card online, and they feel like they need a website—even if they haven't formalized a product yet. They might even fancy themselves designers and really want to be involved with building a website for their business. The subscription model and theme/template marketplace are what probably drive a lot of DIY business owners to Wix/Squarespace/WordPress.com/etc.
Hi,
I have built a no-code website builder with additional features Leansence and my target audience includes a subset of users who use Wix, WordPress, SquareSpace, etc.
I am only targeting bloggers and content creators, although Leansence has support for a simple marketing or landing page as well.
Thanks everyone for such helpful thoughts.
