Why don’t tutorials adjust to your specific situation?

I tried fixing a rotting door frame recently and ran into something frustrating.

Most tutorials (YouTube, Google) show a general way to fix something, but they don’t adjust to what you’re actually dealing with in front of you.

Has anyone else run into this? Where the instructions didn’t quite match your situation?
