Why I’m Building Hostim.dev

These days, hosting your app often means choosing between complexity, lock-in, and sky-high pricing. Most "modern" platforms still run on AWS/GCP/Azure – and those giants are expensive by design.

Example: Hetzner offers 14 cores, 64 GB RAM for €52/month. AWS? You'll pay up to 7× more for less power, plus hidden costs for traffic, storage, and managed services.

Then add a VC-backed middleman on top, and you're paying "Cloud Rent" to fund investors instead of your app.

I'm building Hostim.dev as a bare-metal, developer-first PaaS with fair, transparent pricing for example, €2.50/month for an app, plus always-free tiers of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, and volumes.

Here is what you get:

  • Infrastructure is hosted on bare-metal servers -- no cloud lock-in

  • Deploy from Docker, Git, or Docker Compose

  • One-click deploy templates for popular apps (Umami, Ghost, Anything-LLM, etc.)

  • Built-in PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and volumes

  • Real-time logs, metrics, and auto HTTPS

  • Per-project isolation, internal networking

  • 5-day free trial and always-free tiers for core managed services (databases, volumes, etc.)

First region is Germany-based, with more planned. If it fits in a Docker container, you can host it here.

Let's stop overpaying for complexity – and bring hosting back to earth.
