Why we keep breaking promises (and what I’m building to fix it)

I realized something uncomfortable recently:

We don’t just break promises to ourselves —
we constantly flake on other people.

Being late. Canceling plans. Saying “I’ll do it” and not following through.

And honestly, the reason is simple:

There’s no real consequence.

Most productivity tools focus on tracking or reminders,
but they don’t change behavior.

What actually changes behavior?

👉 Social pressure
👉 Real accountability
👉 Consequences

That’s what I’ve been exploring.

I started building a small app where you turn your plans into “deals” with friends.

If you don’t follow through,
you have to complete a fun (sometimes slightly painful 😅) consequence.

Early insight:

People don’t need better tools —
they need stakes.

Still very early, but already seeing how different it feels when commitment becomes social instead of personal.

Curious:

👉 What’s the last thing you said you’d do… but didn’t?
