Apple/Google/Mastercard and so many other tech companies have banned Russians from App Store and pulled out of Russia. Do you plan to continue working with Russian users on your SaaS/product?
Will you accept Germans because of WW2 and Hitler? Will you accept Americans because of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Cameroon and etc.? Will you accept Chines because of Uyghurs? So all these questions are the same.
People are not to blame for the war that politicians start.
I will accept anyone who disagrees with evil.
This.
It's insane that this is even a question.
Punishing people for the action of others (i.e. collective punishment) is literally a war crime under the Geneva Convention.
Well said. I will not accept any one from Russia Govt in my SaaS app

In today's world, where there is a global market, it is impossible not to support the economies of certain countries that funds bombs in one way or another. You either directly or indirectly support the economies of different countries.
By buying Israeli goods or using their services you support their economy, which today oppresses the Palestinians. By buying Russian gas, oil or metals, you support their economy, which today oppresses the Ukrainians or Syrians, By buying Chinese goods you support camps for the Uighurs, by buying American goods you support economies that oppress Eastern countries, and so on.
So, everyone on earth supports the economies of the exporting countries in one way or another.
Ok, so your opinion is to not put any sanctions on Russia. I don't agree with that.
What makes you think I have that opinion? I didn't say that. I said that unfortunately today we support all countries in one way or another. I am 100% against supporting aggressors.
Sorry, then I misunderstood your reply. So you do support sanctions against Russia then.

I haven't implemented any sort of anti-Russian mechanisms on Indie Hackers, and I don't plan to unless Stripe makes me.
Would you block Uyghurs if Stripe told you to?
Unless your users are the Russian government or oligarchs, it makes absolutely no sense to stop servicing them.
Don't be like that Italian university that tried to cancel Dostoevsky
Y'all gone mad
Yes, lets ban them all — all countries that have ever invaded or bombed other countries
Infact lets not build apps or websites anymore because our users come from one country or another that has carried or is carrying acts of aggression against other nations.
🤦🏿♂️
What is funnier/horrible is I have seen all sorts of hacking/DDoS scripts and tools on Github targeting Russian users/websites.
What will stop someone, anyone, from using these same tools against other countries??
Your concerns may be genuine, but such questions/way of thinking is bloody ridiculous and biased!
Take a moment to say what you're asking out loud and you'll appreciate how ridiculous it sounds.
I guess that apple/google/mastercard banned russians because of US government that ask them to do so (I guess by paying lower taxes in the future).
Also, those companies are not so successful there (google->yandex, ...)
Also, for me, it's a smart move to banned russians (regular people, not politics nor billionaires). Russians also suffer from the war... (I know some Russian that loose money from the bank because the government takes their money from them)...
And you'll see. After the war (that i hope will finish very soon), there will be humanitarian aid for Ukrainians but also for russians
The fact people are genuinely asking themselves this worries me. When would you revert the decision… Would you ever? Have you even thought about that?
I think in this situation, Europe and USA is way too biased. Banning all Russians from every global service will not help.
It's sad to see entire world is not doing anything.
I've seen the likes of Grammarly pulling their service from Russia. Now – I have Russian friends, anti-Putin, looking to leave Russia because of the situation. What help does removing a spellchecking/grammar service do, when that is useful for them looking to relocate and looking for work visas elsewhere?
I understand not wanting to serve the government or large oligarch types, but anything else just exacerbates a difficult situation that many people already find themselves in.
Depends, I am blocking some of them in the WBE Space. Here is the code in case you want to use it:
I thought hard about banning them or not. But then I heard that Russia is banning a lot of websites to keep information of the invasion out. So I thought: "why don't I create a website that should be banned by the Russian government".
Every Russian now gets redirected to a web page that has all the info about the war, hosted on my own website. Not the most gruesome pics because my audience might be quite young.
I know some Ukrainians with families, so this war hits close to home. It's really terrible what these people have to endure 😢

I feel sorry for what happened to your country. But it does not change the fact that you are spreading propaganda and doing some premature conclusions when you have almost zero information about me and my life.
"If your father kills a man, should you be responsible for it?" - no, but if you give him money to buy guns (pay taxes to fund military campaign) and support him for doing this or even ignoring the fact that your father is killing someone, then yes, you are 100% responsible for this.
I will stop discussion from here, because it seems you are too primitively emotional to have a solid conversation.
Well, in that case, the whole of Europe and the European Union, where you live, is sponsoring this aggression more than the citizens of Russia themselves, buying energy resources and other natural resources. By the way, your own country still indirectly buys Russian gas. It turns out that you also sponsor this aggression. As soon as you start freezing in winter, you will buy energy resources from Russia as if nothing had happened, and you will quickly forget about the Ukrainians.
Total hypocrisy, that's the problem and that's what I'm talking about. You began your previous comment by saying that your country is threatened by Russia. People like you think about themselves, not about the poor Ukrainians or other peoples who are suffering and dying.
What do you suggest poor people who do not support all this horror in any way, but have to pay taxes like all people in any country where there is taxation should do?
This kind of thinking is very limited and superficial. This discussion should never have been started. There's no point in discussing what you don't know or understand.
EDIT: The number of upvotes that hit you so hard shows that most people know what I'm talking about and are thinking correctly. And that's great.

So you you judge people who live in Russia and pay taxes without understanding or knowing their situation.
You and I are talking about different things. I only call for not condemning ordinary people who are not involved in or support evil, while you call for condemning everyone. It was with the same calls that Nazi Germany began to oppress the Jewish people and many other oppressions in the World.
And your comparison of some to the police and others to terrorists is laughable. How do you determine who is who? Do you watch the news and believe what the TV tells you?) Keep convincing yourself and others like you that your thinking is correct.
I'm looking at the whole situation from different angles. And the fact that you helped someone is commendable, but it doesn't give you the right to offer something to society and dictate to someone what to do. Just the kind of propaganda that you accuse me of doing.
Start with yourself, you can barely get to me.
I don't care much for such partners who think so primitively.
I see there is no way you can complete the discussion))
EDIT: And yes, I have no complaint that anyone buys anything from Russia. I have a complaint against those who are foaming at the mouth to prove how awful Russia is and keep buying resources by saying “well, that's different”. This is very funny. This is hypocrisy. Evil is evil in order to immediately stop any relationship with it. This applies to any evil.
