Let’s take an example to understand this better.

Suppose someone with a fixed mindset had an opinion on how to present your sales data to the team lead. To subtly portray your idea and increase the chances of it getting accepted, find two things you like about their idea and then proceed to portray yours.

It could go something like this - “I like your idea of using those pictorial charts and I also like how we are comparing our sales with those of our competitors. I wonder if we could also include the different strategies we used to increase our sales.”

This helps someone with a fixed mindset open up their horizon and consider different perspectives.
