wreeto v2 - Moving project to open source

Long story short, 9 months ago I quickly built an application in Rails to help me with my brain fog.

I had too much information to deal with, personal or professional and I needed a simple, minimalistic solution with no strings attached and a tree-structured note strategy to keep my thoughts, ideas, notes, code snippets, installation guides and research information. So, wreeto was built.

The app was starting to get structure, so I decided to deploy it to a custom VPS and offer it to other people too, free of charge. I got lots of users and notes, great feedback but on the other side everyone was too cautious to store his personal data on a new cloud application. I also included a paid plan but haven't enabled it ever since its launch day.

I realised that this is why I also don't want to store personal information on other people's systems, even If they 're well known and established mega-corporations in tech. The people were right. We need to keep our stuff locally and If possible backed up with e2e encryption in the cloud.

I also realised the app could be more valuable If people from all over the world were able to install it locally and start writing notes. That's why I made an open source version and making it public today.

There are screenshots and a short description of it on github and the official website. I will be updating them on a frequent basis. There's also a docker-compose file to try it right away.

I am on the process of updating the official website https://wreeto.com to remove the pricing model and shut down the cloud provided service. From now on, I am going to give away this community version as open source and offer a license under a small fee for businesses that would like to use this software. I believe this is fair, what's your opinion ?
