You can't out-execute a BAD idea

Many first-time founders think “I just need a good idea” to execute on.

But running Juicy Ideas has taught me one thing:

That “finding your million-dollar idea” IS indeed a big part of execution.

No, I don't mean to say you should sit there and wait for inspiration to strike.

Sadly that's what many think of when they think "I need to find an idea".

But the ideation process is less about:

  • Brainstorming
  • Shower thoughts
  • Thinking through your strengths and passion

Rather, it is about identifying a problem or need in the market.

The ability to identify a viable, valuable concept is a big part of a successful execution strategy.

Because when seeking that 'juicy' idea, you will need to:

  • immerse yourself in the industry or market
  • Engage in conversations
  • Seek problems or gaps that need addressing
  • Test your MVP. Test your copy. Test your CTA...
  • Continuously iterate on the solution

Many people think "the big idea" is a destination.

In reality, having researched multiple successful indie hackers, I'm coming to think that your idea will continue to evolve as you build and grow.

That's why you can't (and shouldn't) find an idea from the internet.

Because ultimately, understanding problems and shaping a solution is a process...

...and the job of the founder.
