Jack Ma worked till the universe agreed on what he Believed.
He wasn't an engineer..
Wasn't a programmer..
Didn't come from Silicon Valley..
He was an English teacher..
Curious about the world..
Obsessed with communication..
Constantly looking for opportunity..
But he noticed something fast..
China had millions of manufacturers..
Millions of suppliers..
Millions of small businesses..
Yet most of them were invisible to the global market..
Everything was fragmented..
Factories..
Wholesalers..
Exporters..
Buyers..
Disconnected..
That gap became obvious..
Not a lack of products..
A lack of infrastructure connecting suppliers to customers worldwide..
Most companies focused on selling products..
He focused on the layer above trade itself..
So he built Alibaba..
A marketplace connecting businesses across borders..
Factories could showcase products..
Buyers could discover suppliers..
Deals could happen at global scale..
Not just a website..
A trade ecosystem..
Small manufacturers suddenly gained international reach..
Buyers gained access to suppliers they could never have found before..
And network effects kicked in..
More suppliers attracted more buyers..
More buyers attracted more suppliers..
The marketplace kept compounding..
Then Alibaba expanded further..
Payments through Alipay..
Cloud computing..
Logistics infrastructure..
Consumer marketplaces..
Not just B2B commerce anymore..
An entire commercial operating system..
Here’s what he saw that others missed..
1.. Distribution unlocks hidden economies
Many businesses don't need better products.. they need access to markets..
2.. Marketplaces compound faster than inventory businesses
Connecting buyers and sellers often scales better than owning products yourself..
3.. Infrastructure creates ecosystems
Payments, logistics, and trust systems become powerful moats over time..
Lesson:
Don’t just sell products..
Build the system that helps other people do business..
Enable discovery..
Reduce friction..
Create trust at scale..
That’s how marketplaces become economic infrastructure..
That’s exactly what I amplify..

I agree. In a lot of markets, the product gap isn't the main gap anymore, distribution is. You can build something solid and still go nowhere if the right people never find it, so the boring repeated work of showing up, learning channels, and tightening the path to trust is what compounds
This is the same for founder-led distribution. The people who keep winning usually aren't doing anything magical, they're just consistent long enough to notice where demand already exists and build simple systems around it
