Hey,
Looking to partner with someone who wants to build a better calorie tracking app (like carbon from biolayne or
Myfitness pal) .
I’m a youtuber who talks about fitness and I get hundreds of requests a day for people wanting to follow my diet on myfitness pal (the current app I use) and it sucks. Think there’s an opportunity to build a 10m/year business within ~3 years at the very low end. On the high end, could get to double that potentially.
Think it could be a good partnership if you’re someone who has great experience on the consumer products side and wants to build the best product out there for this use case.
I would only want a small minority founder stake in the company, plus I’d invest to get it going.
But, this needs to exist.
Hey, I love this!
I might be a very suitable guy for what you are looking for.
Fitness is a passion for me, and weight loss has been a focus for the past year.
I’m also a software developer with ambitions for entrepreneurship. I built and launched a full website and app in the last year. And got the website to 50k monthly visitors. It looks like my current project might not work though, so open to working on a new idea. I learned a lot along the way with my experience so far, and could reuse some parts to make a mobile app on a new project. One of the main lessons was that idea validation and marketing are one of the keys to success, alongside a good product.
Let’s get in touch and discuss this idea. Not sure about sharing my personal email here, so maybe let’s connect on Instagram first: @marcel.moraru
Hey, I'd be interested in hearing more about your idea.
I've been working on a Fitness/nutrition tracking app for a little while now but it's main focus is workout tracking. It's still in the early stages but ideally I want to get it to the point where you can share routines, diets, and other structured health data with people easily. You can publicly share workout routines now but I'm working on more granular sharing options.
Are you interested in building something from scratch? Do you want the product to focus solely on nutrition?
My app is called FitJo:

I am a long time myfitnesspal user. I do agree it could be better ,in fact I have thought about this idea myself several times but never had the drive to pursue it.
Would be interesting to know the ideas you have in mind.
I take inspiration from what public app is doing with finance and stocks. How you can follow people’s investing. I noticed how hundreds of people started following me per day on mfp from a single video I posted and think there’s an opportunity to focus on the sharing/community side of it with the goal of bringing much more transparency to fitness.
Interesting how you expect it to work, optical / image input via food recognition, portion estimation and then calorie estimation based on average ingredients or simple bar/QR code product scanning and then via product database look up?
I dont see how image recognition for food would work, at least not in near future.
A yellow pile of goo in the pic could be anything, mango pulp, yellow colored slushy , some kinda ice cream ? Even if the algo were to identify the category correctly it would be really challenging to estimate the calories, i don't think anyone can identify the ingredients based on image of the finished product. Was the item prepared using artificial sweetener or real sugar etc. etc.
Although what can be done is some kind of recipe parser to calculate the calories accurately. MFP has got something like this but it really sucks.
